Visa Process
  • The students who are enrolled into education institutions accredited in Latvia can apply for the long stay visa at the diplomatic and consular representations of Latvia.
  • After receiving a long stay visa (valid for 90 days), upon entering Latvia, students are subjected to apply for a residence permit at the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs of Latvia (OCMA).
  • The visa processing time is 15 days after submission of all the stipulated documents. The documents are considered to be submitted at VFS Global.
  • Visa Fees applicable with effect from 1st October 2025 for Student visa in India is: € 90
Step by step Visa Process
  • Get an official Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from the Latvian school
  • University requests an invitation / positive decision from OCMA (Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs)
  • Upload documents on Hello Verify for verification -https://www.helloverify.com/
  • Visa interview is mandatory
  • Decide where to apply - VFS - https://visa.vfsglobal.com/ind/en/lva/book-an-appointment
  • Prepare documents
  • Book appointment & submit application
  • Wait for decision — processing times & possible outcomes TAT - 15-30 days
  • If visa approved — travel to Latvia & complete registration
  • VISA FEES - 90 EUROS (VFS service charges are different)
Documents required for Visa
  • Long Stay Visa Application Form (Online)
  • Two photo (size 35mm x 45 mm)
  • Valid Passport
  • Invitation approved by the OCMA - An invitation by applicant's education facility in Latvia that is approved by the OCMA has to be submitted. The invitation should be dated not later than 6 months prior to the application date.
  • Study Agreement
  • Written certification issued by the higher education institution or college
  • Proof of sufficient financial means - showing the movements during the last three months with balance confirmation letter from the bank duly stamped and signed by the bank. 3 months matured funds.
  • Minimum funds required - 8,880 EUR (Education Loan, Sponsorship, FD and Savings)
  • Proof of Accommodation (3 months)
  • Proof of the Previous Education
  • Travel Medical Insurance - Travel insurance to be valid for the whole Schengen area and covering the entire period of the intended visit (90days). The minimum coverage of 42,600 EUR
  • Hello Verify Conformation Slip - Confirmation received from Hello Verify for successfully uploaded visa application supporting documents for verification
