Admission intake
Australia has 2 major intakes, Summer (January-March) and winter (July) intake. Some institution also offer a smaller intake of October-November with least programs on offer. Requirements
To be eligible for study in Australia, you must meet some requirements. You must be academically good with a minimum grades of 60% in your last qualification & minimum IELTS of 6 bands or equivalent PTE/TOEFL. The requirements are higher for some programs and higher qualifications. Other requirements are to have required funds, and eligible occupation and income of sponsors. The best sponsors are your parents or in some cases grandparents. You should avoid other sponsors and choose maximum of 2 or 3 sponsors for a good visa success rate.
GS assessment
Let us tell that this is most important and critical phase of the process. The institution assesses your financials, credential, takes your interview and check other things like statement of purpose. Passing this assessment helps to get the COE (confirmation of enrollment), the document that is used to apply the student visa, subclass 500. This phase is usually second step after you receive the offer letter from institution.
Income & occupation of sponsors
As of 2025 Australian govt is accepting certain occupations & income of sponsors, and totally reject some selected occupations. The best occupations are government employment, private employment with all proofs, and business with all proofs such as registration proofs which are old, business/current accounts, old GST certificates, ITRs and other documents demonstrating that your sponsors runs a successful business. Occupations such as Boutique, Beautician & Shops with least proofs are not acceptable. The minimum acceptable annual income of parents of around 12 lakhs has been a requirement at many universities lately while some have still set it 10 lakhs.
Expenses & fund show
Australia is a Country with one of the highest living standards and high tuition fees. The tuition fees varies from College to University & University to University. The high ranked universities such as G8 u universities have highest tuition fee while as Colleges have lesser fees. On average the annual tuition fees ranges from 12 lakhs to 25 lakhs for a year depending upon the course and institution. Institutions in Australia usually asks to pay 1 semester tuition and buy the student health cover (OSHC). The living expenses for a student in Australia are a standard amount set as AUD$ 29710 annually. Student also needs to show AUD$ 2200 for travel expenses. Thus the fund show for Australian student visa is the total of 1 year tuition fee + 1 year living expenses + travel expenses + health insurance (OSHC). When applying for scholarships in Australia, a high GPA score is usually a top criterion, but other factors are also considered, such as the subject, education level, and city. Extracurricular activities and volunteering may also be advantageous for securing a scholarship in Australia. Visa process
The student visa process for Australia is online and processed by creating immi account on the website (https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/login). You need to fill an online application, attach documents like academic, financial and other documents. You are required to take the medical tests at the authorized panel physicians. The visa fees as of today is 1600 AUD$ which is non refundable and paid by the credit card when you submit the application. You don't need to go anywhere for biometrics so visa process is completely online.
Post-study work visa
