Lithuania, officially known as the Republic of Lithuania, is a country in Northern Europe. It is located along the southeastern shore of the Baltic Sea, positioned to the east of Sweden and Denmark. The country is divided into ten counties and has a population of approximately 2.8 million people. Lithuania enjoys a relatively mild climate, with warm summers and cold winters, influenced by its proximity to the Baltic Sea. The country boasts a well-developed and modern infrastructure, including an extensive railway network, several international airports, and four-lane highways that connect major cities and regions. Additionally, Lithuania has a strong motorway network, making transportation efficient and accessible. The official and most widely spoken language in Lithuania is Lithuanian, and the country’s official currency is the Euro (€). Some of the most well-known cities in Lithuania include Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Slauliai, Penvezys, Alytus.

Hall of Residence by Lithuanian Universities

All universities offer the opportunity of living in a hall of residence. Some of the halls of residence are situated near the universities. Usually, the residents of the hall share common showers and kitchen area. Students share their room with one or two others. This is offset by a comparatively low cost of living. Expect the rent to be about 50-100 Euros a month.

No IELTS / TOEFL

IELTS/TOEFL not mandatory for admission but having the same will have a positive impact on VISA outcome.

Part time Job

Students can work up to 20 hours/ week. Minimum wage is 5-7 EUR per hour.

Schengen Visa

The student will be issued a Schengen Visa to go to Lithuania but can travel to all the Schengen countries as well.

Courses Taught in English

Lithuanian Universities charge very minimal tuition fees from International students and offer Master programs exclusively taught in English.

Student visa checklist

NOTE: The Student must have a last name in passport, without last name in passport, the Student will not be able to file the VISA

  • Completed and signed National visa application form - https://www.migracija.lt/en/app/auth/login
  • One recent passport photo 35×45 colourful, white background.
  • A valid travel document - passport.
  • Valid health insurance (from approved list of Indian travel insurance companies), covering the duration of stay. It must be valid in all participant states of the Schengen Area. The minimum amount of medical insurance coverage – EUR 30 000
  • Travel insurance is mandatory for all Schengen countries.
  • Mediation letter – Provided by the university after tuition fees payment.
  • Documents, providing educational background (Apostle-legalized).
  • PCC – from passport office - Apostilled.
  • Student must show complete balance tuition fee + 1 year living expenses minimum Euro 8,000 to Euro 9,000.
  • 100% education loan can be accepted. Student need to have education loan letter in the bank letter head and should be signed and stamped by the bank authorities. Disbursement is recommended.
  • In case of sponsor, only blood relatives (Mother, Father, real Brother and Sister).
  • FD is accepted.
  • Funds must be 3 months old.
  • Documents required to attach of sponsor-
    1. Original 6 months bank statements (funds should be 3 months old) showing movements in the last three months, duly stamped and signed by the bank.
    2. Indian income tax return acknowledgment for the last three assessment years/ Source of Income.
    3. Affidavit of Sponsorship from parents and their proof of financial means.
    4. ID proof (Aadhar or Pan card).
Visa Fees

  • The above-mentioned Visa Fee should be paid in cash or by debit/credit card.
VFS Service charge:
  • Applicants applying at the Lithuania Visa Application Centre shall be levied a service charge of Rs. 1581 (inclusive of Goods and Service Tax –SGST @9% and CGST@9%) payable in cash or by debit/credit card.
